Do we need a videographer for our elopement in Scotland?

Should I have a wedding film? We absolutely believe that you should. Why? It’s simple. Consider this: if you had an option, would you watch your parent’s or grandparent’s wedding video? Videos trigger your senses, memories and emotions. Imagine how wonderful it would be to one day sit and watch the film with your own little people (even if that “family” idea feels far in the future to you just now). AND family members which couldn’t make it to your wedding can watch it afterwards.

Photography and videography belong together

Video harnesses the elements of music, sound and movement, and this even more than photography can truly capture the spirit and magic of your big day. The moving image allows the viewer to immerse themselves even more in day, its your beautiful time machine taking you back to one of the most amazing moments of your life. Boom! How cool is that?!

I’m in! How do I choose my elopement videographer then?

This is dependent on the style of film you are looking for. Wedding films vary a lot. Whether you like the traditional/romantic or journalistic (also known as documentary and reportage), or cinematic storytelling, there is so much choice out there.

Recently you might have heard about ‘fusion’. What is ‘fusion’? It’s photography and videography combined. Basically, the idea behind it is having your photographer take pictures throughout the wedding day and film the most important moments, offering snippets of the best bits from your day included in the final photo gallery.

We don’t do fusion.

Our films are cinematic storytelling

We don’t do highlights of the day nor snippets. Our film for you is story-led, a crafted and unique narrative based on you as a couple . We are 100% focused on our thing during the big day (Sean 100% on Film, Justyna 100% on Photography) and don’t want to dilute this approach by having to decide what moments to film and which to leave out. Your whole wedding day is the one big moment and we want to give that our full attention. Don’t get us wrong. There are some kick ass people who do fusion brilliantly well and if snippet style videography is something which speaks to you more then we are more than happy to point you in their direction. Do let us know!

How much does a videographer cost?

Another upside of having a small wedding/elopement: you save money on hiring venues, caterers and overpriced party favours and you can invest it in something much more precious: all those wonderful memories in a form of a film from your dream-like elopement.

This of course depends on what you are looking for in terms of quality and coverage. In most cases you will be looking at a price similar to that of a photographer. Look around, compare prices, watch their films and see if you connect.

Every couple has a budget, but an elopement photography and video combination can be affordable and well worth the cost.

WeAreElopers gives you both : photos and film for one fixed price. No packages ( we would really get lost in it), we don’t set limits for our attendance (we never watch the clock), no offers for extras (drone and other as standard).

How are we different?

Answer to this is in the way how we do what we do.

We have a constant drive to think outside the box. Actually we love to think like there is no box.

We have worked together for over seven years now and understand each other in how we work, we have a common aesthetic vision and have same goal: when we create a film and photography set we want a total stranger to watch your film and view your images be able to feel what it was like to be there.

We film elopements, small and intimate weddings

Although we aim to shoot elopements like ‘a fly on the wall” , thoroughly recording the event with a storyteller’s understanding of real moments as well as a cinematographer’s eye for beautiful images, we will also direct in a way that is sensitive to each. If you are up for crossing a knee-deep river, lying down on a sun-soaked meadow or running into a snow storm then we are all in for capturing that. It’s your day, don’t hold back. You won’t remember your dress getting a little bit dirty. You will remember how you both felt. And our film to you is a small reminder of it after years.
